About Shine Teens

Creating Lasting Change

The teenage years are a complex journey of self-discovery and identity development.

Teens are impressionable; what informs them, forms them. Within our culture, they’re exposed to a constant barrage of messaging that can distort their self-image, destabilize their energy, fuel destructive thoughts and actions — and dim the light that radiates from within. Give your teen the gift of learning how to GROW through what she goes through.

With the right tools and support, we ALL shine brighter.

I'm so grateful we found Shine! It means the world to me that my daughter has a safe space to grow and thrive, without me messing things up. Teens are hard! I’ve been trying to have her switch friend groups and so it’s led to a lot of stress on the whole family. She’s really enjoying this and I’m so grateful to have a happier kid right now.

Who you’re around and how you think makes a huge impact during the teen years.

FROM PASSION PROJECT TO NONPROFIT

It Started With A Spark

We all dream of sparking change that brightens the future for generations to come. What began as passion project — fueled a movement that has equipped and empowered hundreds to grow, glow, and become beacons of light within their communities.

A Spark of Inspiration

Jenny Stoner, executive coach to mortgage professionals, developed a passion for pouring into teen girls while serving in the student ministry at her church.

Inspired by their zest for life, playful spirits, and caring hearts — and with a window into the challenges they were navigating — Jenny felt called to create a safe space where they were equipped with tools and support to not just survive the teenage years, but thrive during them.

In 2019, that vision became Shine Teens. What began as a small group of girls quickly grew into a vibrant community — as hundreds of girls were served and the light radiating from them spread like wildfire.

In 2023, as Jenny prepared to embark on a long-awaited relocation from Charlotte to the beach, she prayerfully considered the next chapter for Shine. Through a series of divinely orchestrated events, Jenny was introduced to Jules…

Carrying the Torch Forward

Jules Bosi was certified as a coach and moved to Charlotte in 2019 — the year Jenny started Shine.

With a focus on stress and energy management, Jules coached high-achieving lawyers and other busy professionals through releasing deeply rooted insecurities and limiting beliefs — to feel lighter, shine brighter, and live purpose-driven and impactful lives.

Inspired by the transformational impact of coaching, Jules felt called to develop a personal development program for teens. A mutual friend introduced Jules and Jenny — and the rest is history.

In 2024, Shine Teens transitioned from a passion project to a nonprofit organization, broadening its reach and expanding its perimeter of possibility. As a nonprofit, Shine Teens is able to deliver life-changing programs in a cost-effective manner.

Shine’s mission is to equip and empower teens to shine bright, through personal development programs — because we believe that what’s on the inside flows out — and spread light, through kindness, hospitality, and local service initiatives.

Secretary

Katie Holstein

I’m a mom of three with a background in museums and nonprofit fundraising. I am so excited to help pour into the next generation of girls. Shine gives girls tools that simply were not available when I was a teen, and I had to go find for myself later in life. I firmly believe that by equipping girls to shine bright and spread light we are positively impacting their lives, our country and the world.

Treasurer

Megan Lokitis, CFP®

After 14 years in financial planning, I’ve pressed pause on my career to homeschool my children and pour into the next generation. My love for teaching started young — as a teenage gymnastics coach, I found joy in encouraging others and helping them grow. That passion has only deepened through motherhood.
As a mom, I feel the ache for young girls to grow up fully understanding their true worth — not defined by the world, but rooted in who they were created to be. That’s why Shine’s mission resonates so deeply with me. Shine gives girls the tools, encouragement, and confidence to embrace who they are — the very tools I wish I had growing up.

Sarah Hebb

Hi! I’m Sarah, a Mortgage Banker and proud mom of two teen daughters who have been a part of Shine Teens since 2019. I’m passionate about Shine Teens because I’ve witnessed firsthand the safe and encouraging space this community provides for teen girls to show up as their authentic selves and grow into intentional, impactful humans. Shine holds a special place in my heart, and I’m grateful to help this generation of girls develop confidence, courage, and a heart for others.

Katie Gierke

Hi, I’m Katie! I’m honored and excited to be on the Board of Shine Teens! I believe every girl deserves a place where she can feel seen, loved, and empowered to grow into the woman she was created to be. My heart is to walk alongside teen girls as they navigate friendships, faith, and identity, reminding them that their light has the power to change the world. I’m a wife, mom of four, photographer, and storyteller who’s passionate about community, purpose, and helping others live with joy and authenticity. Shine was born out of a desire to spark that same light in others, one that glows brighter when we lift each other up and live out our shared values together.
